ISA selects Martha’s Research Paper for Sociological Essay Film

Martha’s paper on Religious Integration is accepted for presentation at the International Sociological Association (ISA), taking place in Rabat (6-11 July 2025). This marks the first academic presentation of the longitudinal research underpinning her sociological essay film Searching for Mama Salone’s Secret.

Presented within ISA’s Research Committee on Futures Research (RC07), Van Der Bly introduces an initial analysis of her analytical framework of ‘The Elementary Forms of Religious Integration’, based on her filmed fieldwork in Sierra Leone and inspired by Émile Durkheim.

This presentation represents a major milestone and an important next step in the film’s release trajectory.
